Big Businesses and Small Lifespans

Our institutions aren’t what they used to be. Below is a chart of the average lifetime of S&P 500 companies. Perhaps business and technological change are happening so quickly at an increasing (exponential) rate – that big companies can’t respond fast enough – driving turnover among these once large stable companies.
